March 15, 2011 - San Jose, CA – MTV’s QUIERO MIS QUINCES, which aired yesterday on the TR3S network (an MTV owned channel) at 3pm PST, featured products and services provided by a wide variety of SF Bay Area vendors who were asked to donate to the event for 17-year-old Jiselle Guerrero of Mountain View. Pizarro: Silicon Valley revs up for 'Sex and the City' sequel
The "Sex and the City" sequel opens Thursday, and Silicon Valley's already excited about it.
If you really want to get your party started early, there's the "Diva & the City 2" networking mixer Wednesday night at the Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown San Jose.
Bliss Connection's Chrystal Bougon and Lone Star Limo's Jen Jaciw hosted DATC, a similar party, when the first movie came out two years ago. This one also promises to have a lot of adult-oriented fun aimed at ladies with drinks, appetizers, a "sexy shoe" fashion show, vendors selling everything from purses to home accessories and even a "fitness" pole demo.
There will be some fundraising, too, to benefit the Support Network for Battered Women. Tickets to the 6 pm event are $30. Get more info at www.DivaliciousProductions.com

In Recession Specials, Small Firms Revise Pricing
Discounts and Lower-End Offerings Help Lure Cash-Strapped Customers; Vans Complement Limo Service's Town Cars
By DANA MATTIOLI
Some small businesses are overhauling their pricing strategies amid the recession and finding new growth through lower-end offerings and discounts.
Lone Star Limousine owners Alex and Jen Jaciw, left, added vans to their business after noticing that companies were using limos less often.
Lone Star Limousine, a transportation company based in Palo Alto, Calif., introduced lower-priced options in response to the economy. As companies cut back on spending, Lone Star noticed less-frequent limousine use. That, coupled with executives wary of the image they were sending by traveling in flashy limousines, prompted co-owner Jen Jaciw to take a different approach.
A year and a half ago the company added a van to its fleet of limousines, town cars and high-end sport-utility vehicles. The van, which was less ostentatious, cost less to rent and allowed the company to expand its client base. Ms. Jaciw says as the economy worsened, wedding parties and companies started choosing the van over limos. In March 2009 Lone Star bought another van to keep up with demand. "We established ourselves as a high-end luxury option, but it seemed like the right thing to do so we had a more economical option to offer," she says.
To supplement corporate accounts under pressure, Ms. Jaciw sought partnerships with different kinds of clients. She reached out to hotels, wineries, wedding venues and other businesses that might want to charter the vans. The efforts are paying off. Lone Star's gross is up $20,000 over the first quarter last year and the company hopes to gross $1 million by year end.

The ladies of "Sex and the City" have arrived on the big screen, and Thursday's midnight opening had Silicon Valley women selling out movie theaters and planning the ultimate Girls Night Out. "It's the chick Super Bowl," said Kristy Rogers, the managing director of eWomen Network in San Jose.
I ran into Rogers at Diva and the City, a networking mixer held Wednesday night at the swanktastic Domain Hotel in Sunnyvale. Organizers Chrystal Bougon, Jen Jaciw and Julie Adiutori sure had the right theme, with dozens of SATC fans sipping cosmos, checking out a shoe fashion show and taking photos with their girlfriends. Of course, the stars of the night - Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda - were there, too, as episodes from the show were playing in the background.
